Dad's Surprise 60th

In September, we all went down to SA for a surprise 60th party for Dad (Graham, aka "Pops"). Dad had no idea what we were planning, despite various bouts of cooking, shopping and general organising occurring around him. He set off on the Saturday afternoon for a "supposed" family camping trip to celebrate his birthday quietly in the Flinders Ranges.

We set up camp in a gorgeous spot at Arkapena Campground, in the shadows of Wilpena Pound in the Flinders Ranges. Then...throughout the afternoon over 40 people turned up ready to camp with us! Dad was in shock! The first arrival was a few of his teaching buddies, complete with a Priscilla-like "Pagey, Queen of the Bush" float carried behind a car. See photos for a visual...I won't say any more, other than there were fake boobs involved! We had a great night of campfire-cooked food (in camp ovens) songs and laughs. Dad was a bit overwhelmed by the time everyone arrived, as he had lots of catching up to do with old friends and family he had not seen for some time. Jett enjoyed his first camping trip too!
