Drought & Flood in 1 week

As you would know, Australia is experiencing it's worst drought in history, and Brisbane is already on level 5 water restrictions (which reduces garden watering to buckets only, means timed showers of 4 mins only, and has massive implications across the city and state for how we use and conserve water). On the Sunshine Coast we are still in drought but we have been getting semi-regular rainfall...such that our dam is not too bad compared to Brisbane dam levels which are at a scaringly low record low!
Recently, in the middle of the drought we had huge storms and flooding on the Sunshine Coast. The storms were wicked and caused a lot of damage. On Thursday 23rd August, we had a huge storm...I thought I heard a tree fall down but couldn't see anything and the power had also gone off...Gray came home from work and couldn't get down our driveway as a huge gum tree had fallen from our neighbours yard above us, across our adjoining fence, across our driveway and onto our yard. Luckily the emergency services guys were nice enough to cut it away (we gave them a slab of beer as thanks and apparently they rarely get anyone follow through on promises of thankyou! Pretty sad I reckon!) Our neighbour had it removed by insurance but some photos are attached of the end stages of that removal. It doesn't really do it justice...it was much bigger than it looks! Lucky it didn't fall on the house.... We are all grateful for the rain tho! We just wish that it reached more of inland Queensland where it is really needed... A photo of flooding near Noosa also attached.
